Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know for our winter celebration in the city.
What is the schedule of events?
To help you plan your day, here is the timeline for our celebration:
3:00 PM: Guest Arrival at Butler North Hall
3:20 PM: Ceremony Doors Close
3:30 PM: Wedding Ceremony Begins
4:30 PM: Cocktail Hour at The Apollo Event Center
5:45 PM: Formal Plated Dinner
7:00 PM – 9:45 PM: Dancing and Celebration
What is the dress code?
We would love to see our family and friends get dressed up with us! The dress code is Winter Formal.
For Women: We kindly request floor-length gowns in solid colors. Please do not wear any shade of white.
For Men: Tuxedos are encouraged, though a formal suit and tie with dress shoes is the minimum requirement.
Note: Both the ceremony and reception are indoors, but we recommend a warm coat for the short walk from the parking garage to the Butler.
What time should I arrive for the ceremony?
Because our ceremony is being held in an art gallery, timing is very strict. The ceremony begins promptly at 3:30 PM, and doors will close at 3:25 PM to preserve the intimacy of the moment.
To ensure you have plenty of time to find your seat, please arrive by 3:15 PM. Please note that once the doors have closed, we will be unable to accommodate late entries.
Where should I park for the ceremony?
The Butler is located in the heart of the YSU campus. Guests are invited to park in the YSU Parking Garage. Please allow at least 10–15 minutes to park and walk to the North Hall to ensure you arrive comfortably before the doors close.
Where should I park for the reception?
For the celebration at The Apollo, guests are invited to park in the lot located at the intersection of Front Street and Champion Street. From there, it is a brief 2-minute walk to the reception venue entrance at 117 S Champion St, Youngstown, OH 44503.
Pro-Tip: If you are staying at our hotel block at the DoubleTree, you may prefer to leave your car at the hotel, as the reception venue is just around the corner!
How do I get to the reception?
The reception is a short drive from the Butler Art Museum. Guests are responsible for their own transportation between the ceremony and the reception at Apollo Event Center, as a shuttle will not be provided.
I'm coming from out of town, where should I stay?
We have reserved a room block at the DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Youngstown. It is conveniently located right around the corner from our reception venue, The Apollo.
Can I bring a guest or a "plus one"?
Due to venue capacity, we can only accommodate those guests explicitly listed on your invitation. If your invitation is addressed to you and a guest, their name (or "and Guest") will be indicated.
Are children invited?
While we love your little ones, our reception is an adults-only event. We hope you will enjoy this "night off" to celebrate with us!
What should I do if I have dietary restrictions?
We want everyone to enjoy their meal! Please list any specific dietary restrictions or allergies in the designated section of your RSVP.
Will there be an open bar?
Yes! We look forward to celebrating with you over cocktails, dinner, and dancing.
Can I take photos or videos during the ceremony?
We have hired a wonderful professional photographer to capture our ceremony. We kindly ask that you keep all phones and cameras away and remain fully present with us until the ceremony has concluded. We promise to share our professional photos with you later!
What should I do if I can't make it?
You will be dearly missed! If you cannot attend, please RSVP "No" via our wedding website so we can provide an accurate headcount to our vendors.
How do I select my meal for the reception?
We are excited to host a formal plated dinner at The Apollo! Please indicate your entree preference for each guest on your RSVP card. If you have any specific dietary restrictions or allergies, please make a note of them there as well so our chef can accommodate you.
When is the RSVP deadline? How do I RSVP?
Please let us know if you can join us by November 5th. After receiving your invitation, you will be able to RSVP and select your meal choice directly through this website.
What if I don't RSVP in time?
We would love to celebrate with everyone, but our venue and caterer require a final, firm headcount by a set date to prepare for our plated dinner. If we do not receive your RSVP by the deadline, we will have to mark you as "regretfully decline." We will miss you, but we must ensure our vendors have accurate numbers for seating and service!
